What Margin is

A personal ledger you write in your own words. It records what you tell it and adds it up.

It is not financial advice. Margin does not tell you what to spend, what to cancel, or what to invest in, and nothing it shows should be treated as advice from a professional. It is also not an accounting system of record: if you need numbers for tax or for a regulator, check them against your bank and your accountant.

Your account

You need one, you are responsible for keeping access to it, and you must be old enough to enter a contract where you live. One person per account.

Your content is yours

You keep every right to what you write. You give us only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store your ledger, sync it between your devices, and send lines you write to the AI provider that reads them, as described in the Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your ledger to train models.

Reads, Plus, and fair use

Margin meters the work that costs money to do. Reading a line with a model consumes a Read; parsing one on your device is free. Free accounts get a monthly allowance. Plus removes the per-line limit subject to fair use - an allowance high enough that a person writing a ledger will never see it, and low enough to stop automated abuse. If you hit the fair-use ceiling the app says so plainly and your lines are still kept; nothing is lost.

Reads are a feature of the service, not a currency. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and are not refundable on their own.

Paying

Subscriptions are sold through the App Store, billed by Apple, and governed by Apple's terms as well as these. They renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your Apple account - deleting your Margin account does not stop billing. Refunds are Apple's to give.

Prices can change. An existing subscription is not repriced without notice and a chance to cancel.

What we do not promise

Margin is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it correct and available, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, or that a model will read every line the way you meant it. Check anything that matters. The app is built to show you what it decided precisely so you can.

To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Ending it

You can stop any time: export, delete, done. We can suspend an account that is being used to attack the service, abuse the model, or break the law - and we will say why.

Changes

Material changes are announced in the app before they take effect.
